Born in Massachusetts in 1879, little Ethel Edwards had the misfortune of having the body of a grown woman by the age of four, and was placed on exhibit at age five as "The Baby Venus". Her career was short lived and she died April 20, 1885, of an illness while in Chicago for a museum appearance. At death she weighed 65 pounds, the average weight of a child of nine.
